I read it, and I don't see any BL in it. MC's friend got replaced by some alien, and their friendship was more like a bromance than some gay relationship

nah, just going through an existential crisis of dissatisfaction because all the recent manga I've read seems to rely on the same plot points, the same tropes, and there's no depth to them.
Lately small-studio british and american comics have more appeal because of originality and creativity.

It's an eldritch abomination pretending to be a kid (whom it may or may not have murdered). It's hard to say whether or not he really understands love or things like that, since the very first chapter has him threatening to kill the MC if he ever tells anyone.

It was definitely closer to a bromance with the original Hikaru. Current 'Hikaru' just seems clingy, for lack of a better word. Dangerously so.

Not really BL, the son is gay but he has no common character he's in a relationship with IIRC. He's just a gay dude.

But actual romance is pretty absent.
