This take is scalding hot, but I think Berserk '97 is a better telling of Golden Age than the manga and the parts that it omits improves the pacing and the tone (Wyaldfags are forbidden to (You) me). Obviously the art isn't as great as the manga, but the art style is still immersive and the OST and voice acting make up for the lack of Miura's drawings.

Maybe even more controversial is that I enjoy Devilman Crybaby over OG Devilman. They are very different, and obviously Crybaby fucked up some important aspects like Ryo, but I think Crybaby added so heart much to the supporting cast that was completely non-existent in the manga and it streamlined/exaggerated the themes of the original in a way that I think made it resonate more. Add to that a 10/10 OST and Yuasa's style and it's a work I prefer more than the original.

Finally, Ultimate Survivor Kaiji is just a completely competent and faithful adaptation that is hard to complain about in any way. I like it slightly more because of the ZAWA meme.

To add on to the Kaiji thing. There are a bunch of anime like where the story is completely faithful to manga and the anime has good enough production values and direction to make it on par or above the manga experience. Stuff like JJK, SnK, Hajime no Ippo, ect.

Most comedy series

Mushishi is the only one I liked more than the manga I think, probably because of how good the OST is.
