It depends on the lenses type, you can still risk getting an infection but it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
As a person who use to wear contact lenses, I had soft lenses so it wasn't that bad. I ended up not liking contacts because of my work and every once in a while the contact would fall out so I went back to glasses.
