This never bothered me before, but lately I feel that there's been this trend where certain fandoms will gaslight you into believing something else or insinuating you're wrong if you go against a certain view (usually most of the time 100% positivity). I always attributed this to things outside of anime like pop music or something but it feels like in recent years, fandoms are meant to mold you into believing [thing that might be bad is actually not bad] and if you don't believe [thing], you are wrong and stupid. Some examples
-Before the fandom imploded on itself, if you weren't calling SnK god's gift to shounen, you didn't exist and were a hater. If you had issues with the story, you were actually a butthurt shipper who couldn't see Isayama's genius
-Even going back before the recent reveal, if you had issues with One Piece, clearly you don't understand Oda's genius and are probably a Hunterfag. Even if you liked the manga but had concerns, anything that isn't pure praise outside of the designated "this is okay to call out as bad" is not allowed and in fact YOU are the problem.
-Jojo on Netflix won't be a problem at all you fucking idiot. Just because discussion died with every other anime adaptation on Netflix that had the binge model doesn't mean it'll happen for THIS show cause fuck you that's why.
-Netflix's Cowboy Bebop: Okay, this one wasn't necessarily here but on other places, if you pointed out the flaws with the show, not only were you wrong, you apparently always hated Bebop and if the show gets cancelled it's YOUR fault and YOU will never get Bebop again because of YOU (as if people were seriously asking for more Bebop 20 years after the fact). See also when the FLCL sequels first got announced years back.
I hate the state of this board, and this whole website so much. No one here actually has a passion for this medium anymore. Manga is just a platform for them to feel like shit, shit on others work, and put others down for enjoying manga, to the point of fabrication.
I cant even ask about a manga release without a majority of the comments questioning my choice to support a creator at all. Fuck this board, fuck these shounen fags.
