I imagine it's similar to how when they want to make a fantasy story, 90% of the time, the setting is similar to Dragon Quest, it's an easy way to explain what you want to get across because they don't actually know a better way to convey what they want.

It wouldn't apply to anything because the entire concept is completely wrong. Schrodinger tried to explain how quantum physics don't make sense but the explanation is completely wrong and not what actually happens.
His entire point was ''isn't this silly? How could the cat be both alive and dead??? isn't it SILLY?'' and it is silly, but people are going along with it and say that's exactly how quantum physics work.

I'm too dumb to understand this. Alive or dead, whatever happens to the cat will still happen even if we don't observe it. It's just our knowledge of the cat's state that changes. The whole theory or thought experiment or whatever makes it sound like we are the center of the universe.
