If you just completely skip the 60 episode (132 chapter) chimera ant arc then yes.
That arc does the show a disservice by being slower paced than a grandmother with a broken hip.

In the manga, its much, much better. The anime fucked it up with its horrible pacing.

The payoff is now he can explain nen abilities in greater depth

It's fun, but like any series it depends on what you're after. HxH is basically tailor made for people who want a shonen but wished it focused on "more mature themes" and had characters that "thought about things more". HxH isn't the smartest or most mature show out there but it can scratch that itch.
It's also never ever going to finish.

Yes, it is very good.
It has some problems with pacing and the power scaling is kind of retarded but the good things about it far, far outweigh the bad.

I enjoyed it. But I generally like shounen more than most “normal” shows anyway. Miss me with the uguu shit. And def miss me with that edgy shit
