Maybe Wano was unintentionally way too dark with all the slavery and oppression backplots. I personally felt the entire Queen character and his "snake form" shooting out of his body somehow "out of place", yet in hindsight it's 101 classic One Piece. Maybe Wano has just gone on for way too long, so the whole serious vs goofy nature of One Piece got out of balance.
