I feel sorry for Kaido, such a powerful character getting destroyed and humiliated by looney toons levels of gag. This takes all seriousness out of this fight. I love one piece but i am not fanatic enough to like everything Oda throws at us. Wano is the first time i have ever spoken against Oda's writing. I understand this is different from usual shounen trope of awakening inner berserk edgy demon but TOON GAGS?

seriously? what the fuck is this shit? popeye vs bluto? that too during a battle against one of the strongest characters in One Piece. When this eye popping shit happened with Enel, it made sense, it was a memorable scene and it wasn't overused. Oda turned this fight into some kind of slapstick comedy show. This is like Last Jedi, subverting expectations for the sake of subverting expectations. I had to rant and this is completely my personal opinion.

I loved the chapter but it's even better knowing it filtered edgefags and Naruto refugees. One Piece has always been gag manga like early Dragon Ball. The in-universe One Piece is literally a Laugh Tale. JJK is more your speed.

I don't know why everybody is dismissing criticisms over the last chapter by calling everyone edgy. One Piece always had stakes and got serious when it came to big moments. Rescuing Robin? Played straight when it mattered. Marineford played straight when it mattered.
