Ergo Proxy is fine, but it’s not the greatest anime of all time and Monoral isn’t the greatest band of all time.

Ergo has its moments but overall it just isn't all that good. The pacing is all over the place and it really falls apart by the end. Not to mention the fucking exposition quiz episode. Texhnolyze captures what ergo was going for better and the characters are somehow more likable. Still, I do have a soft spot for pino and Re-L's cucked android manservant.

Most of the characters in Texmex are extremely unlikable but they're more relatable than a rich princess on her pointless journey with two androids and a mary sue prick. Pino's a sweetheart but she can't carry it all by herself. Yoshi is lovable when he's not murdering prostitutes and inciting racewars and Doc > Daedalus.
Texhnolyze if you don't mind an extremely slow start. Kino no tabi has similar themes but isn't as visually bleak; it's well worth your time though.

Yeah the game show episode was very out of place. Its sad because I was actually really enjoying the show before it, but it marked a turning point for garbage and the next episodes followed it. Could have been a 9/10
