Not anime

Oh boy, so many headtilts coming our way!

This is still alive? I remember roosterteeth was having a really bad time since last year in relation to finances and other stuff.

Depends. What's your opinion on those Marvel shows by anime studios like Disk Wars or Madhouse's Wolverine?
Or Batman Ninja?.

>Not anime
I do wonder about that. I have no attachment to this series, in fact, I have no idea what it's about. But regardless of the source material, if it's being adapted by a real Japanese studio, why is it not anime? Anne of Green Gables is clearly not a Japanese work, yet its anime is something that even that hack Anno cites as one of the best anime series.

I always thought it was some westcuck attempt at making anime for 12 year old girls.

I’ve seen RWBY fans complain about the idea that RWBY will become more like an anime. Messed up.

You were correct.

Yes, its a dying IP

Subpar series. It starts off fairly basic, if not kinda stupid in some aspects, and the animation is still weak, some fights are ok. It starts getting fairly serious at around season 3 and the end was probably the highlight of the series, but after that it takes an extreme nosedive in quality.

The villains are retarded, so are the heroes, the heroes conveniently get stomped by shit where they suddenly forgot to fight and dodge to create tension, deaths can happen but often the reasoning for it is fucking retarded, or it comes rather cheap and sudden, and wastes a good character. The stakes past season 3 was huge, but it kinda kept getting focusing on other shit.

The only thing it has going for it at this point is all the weapons like a rifle scythe, shotgun gauntlets and so on.

Not anime either.
Just like Tom and Jerry or 90s Spiderman.
Technically all produced by japanese studios but they are produced by the west.
Also: There was already a thread a few hours ago and mods deleted it.

Do I need to know/watch anything to watch this one?

Weiss > Ruby > Blake > Yang

I saw a webm of the red girl getting fucked by a werewolf, I think that'll do.

low quality mmd shit made by western group who used to make Halo videos. The creator sounds like a rape baby
>He was of Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese heritage.

when was the last time SHAFT was even relevant, ufotable has taken their status of meme studio

last season of monogatari iirc

The original dude who made the story up died long time ago. They are sorta just winging it from whatever he had left since many seasons ago.

Peak shafted ended 2013. After that it was just them jumping from one failed project to the next with 2-4 more Monogatari projects on the sideline keeping them alive somehow.

Mekaku City Actors was a gigaflop.
So was Fate Last Encore.
Other shows like Assault Lily did even worse and the last thing they did was fujoshit.

The worst part is that its not even MMD.
He stole/ripped MMD models for the show though.

That looks like anime for once, is it?
Sure hope so. The japanese cast is god tier.

I am unbelievably excited for this.

Are they going bankrupt and just making a last ditch attempt to appeal to a western audience?
If so, it's one of the worst fucking IPs to choose from. Why?

It's pretty much that. It was given to Monty Oum after years of work on other projects. Monty obviously just wanted to create anime fights with school girls so the whole lore/plot didn't matter that much. Heck I always thought it was meant to be a parody with how cliche and tropey it is.

But alas he passed and so it was given to two yes men who were instructed to make it a massive successful franchise. They tried, they had the main show, supplementary material like books and manga, multiple games. They honest to god tried but they tried to make the series more than what it was and thus it fell apart.

Basically they tried to make an anime franchise but from the point of view of a 4kids executive. This new project I think is their last hail mary. The writing is on the wall that Roosterteeth as a company is on thin ice. All the major contributors who built the company up have left. Red vs Blue is not very relevant these days (heck it's medium, machinimas are basically a forgotten art) and almost all their other series never got the foot hold they desired.

Then to make matters worse they had the whole rape allegations made against some of their more prolific creators. The point is most have basically decided to jump ship. It's funny 10-15 years ago, Roosterteeth was viewed as the dream company and everyone wanted to join them. Now when they are discussed, it's with the air of "oh yeah Roosterteeth...they're still around? I thought they closed down years ago."
