If Pegasus walked into a real-life major Yu-gi-oh tournament, and his cards were allowed and worked as they did in the source material, what are his chances of winning the tournament? Is mind-reading too much of an advantage, or would competitive decks be able to win through brute force?

Mind reading can't help much if you have a bad hand or can't counter opponents effects.
At most he would know when not to attack.

Mind reading won’t save you from a shit hand or low powered cards that can’t clear an opponents board or stop OTK.

He imposes an intimidating no-nonsense personality but his cards show that he is a playful child inside

Wish he played active role on the series and joined the gang like Kaiba

If he keeps his anime effects I'd say it could give him a fair share of wins. His deck is tailor made to exploit mind reading with lots of counter and copy effects.
