Oda states Luffy has FREEDOM in the way he can use his fruit

Someone should do a video but using Popeye the Sailor Man.

I doubt that he is self-aware about it, he could have easily written it so that Luffy just awakened his power and then give him all these crazy abilities. There was no point in doing all that Nikka shit and what not, Oda went a bit too far

I think the one-two punch of the world government being revealed to be the most cartoonish villains ever after Oda did a decent job of giving layers to their admirals and the fishnigger arc was where One Piece pretty much jumped the shark and never recovered. The manga died with Ace.

I believe he knows it's shit. And is aware it breaks the arc of his protagonist. That's why he attempts to mend it with the "he's actually free you guys, since he has total freedom of how he uses his fruit, therefore he is free. FREE" bullshit. I think the declining sales caused his editors to put pressure on him, demanding a huge reveal. And this is what he gave them.

You are taking it too literally. Everyone has limitations, something holding them back. OIt is what makes us human. The question is, do you let those limitations stop you? Luffy sails the sea despite the constant risk he might drown. He can even go underwater in a bubble if he so chooses. His powers also give him the freedom to impose his will on others which would otherwise be impossible to do.

A fruit is incapable of choosing anyone. It is a fucking fruit. Shit happens in life. Truck-kun might kill you today, doesn't mean truck-kun controls you. Luffy still chose to become a pirate despite the fruit's limitations and chose every action he took.

The gorosei, the walking, talking, exposition dumpers, literally states that the mythical zoan fruits have a mind of their own and that Luffy was chosen by the fruit, hence why they weren't able to find it despite looking for it for over 800 years.
