I watched the CardCaptors dub and while it can be said that it's bad it's so a pretty enjoyable time capsule of the 90s. Very fun to watch. Never watched the proper CCS dub.
LatAm CCS dub is superb, btw.

When Funi licensed and dubbed Clear Card (and that dub actually turned out pretty good) I hoped that would also go back and re-dub the original series, but it never happened and I don't think it ever will at this point.
The original Nelvana Cardcaptors dub had great voice acting but absolutely butchered the show with censorship and story changes. The later Animax CCS dub had the opposite problem where it kept the series and story intact but had terrible voice acting. Even as someone who generally defends English dubs, both CCS dubs are just so bad that I would never recommend them over watching it subbed.

The Nelvana CCS dub is the most bizarre dub in existence. They went out of their way to strip all soul of that the series. Yet they still went out of their way to dub all the episodes without skipping or merging them. Why did they even bother?

Other countries besides the US got all 70 episodes of the Nelvana dub, but the US specifically got only 39 episodes and they were even more butchered. I'm talking re-arranging and re-writing episodes to make Syaoran seem like the main character (his introductory episode was made episode 1 and Sakura's role was heavily downplayed) because the higher-ups were scared a cartoon with a female lead wouldn't sell. It made an already bad dub into an unrecognizable mess that would even make 4Kids go "yo what the fuck dude"

I dunno. I bought burned DVDs in a Tianguis (mexican swap meet) with the entire LatAm dub in good quality and I cherish those today.
