compare the big 3's "chosen one" leads to what preceded them. Goku was the son of two nobodies. his mother was a weakling nobody that died a nobody. she might as well have been a nameless no one. and his father too died as a low class saiyan warrior. so a grown up Goku avenging the saiyan race in his fight against Frieza was pretty satisfying to read/watch.

But when you watch Naruto lecturing Nagato or hear Luffy and Ichigo bring up nakama power you can't help but cringe. because they are the only ones that can do this. Characters like Tenten, Chopper or Tatsuki could never ever do what those characters do no matter how hard they work or try. Because they are not "the chosen ones" so to speak. they aren't reincarnations of legends or gods nor are they from divine or great lineages of the elite.

only the original Dragon Ball manga (1984-1995) is canon. as well as anime canon stories from the time (the 90s). Everything else made after that is FILLER and NOT CANON. so everything made after the year 2000 isn't a part of the Dragon Ball story. GT is also not canon btw.
