What's your favorite anime and why?

How did you come across it? Did you like the ending? Who's your favorite character from the series?

SAO and BNHA

all this Marinposting hits me in the feels. i'm not ready to say goodbye...

Relax. You'll move on to your next seasonal meme whore in a few weeks and forget all about her.

Just because it's true that doesn't mean you're right.

In my opinion, a major ongoing series will never have the per-episode quality of a really exceptional 12-episode run, but of course a minor series doesn't have nearly as much content to enjoy, so it makes more sense to split favourites between major and minor series.

Favourite minor series: Violet Evergarden.
This anime is like a succubus that drinks tears instead of cum. The protag is a child soldier learning how to become a normal person after a war, and the main theme of the story is the difficulty of accepting loss. It has great animation and music, and I didn't feel like anything was lacking.

Favourite major series: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
Avoids one big weakness of a lot of isekai has, in that it avoids common tropes while also not overcommitting to any one gimmick. The protagonist has cheat-level powers, but still has to carefully think about what he does as there's still plenty of people stronger than him, and consequences for actions aren't necessarily life or death.
Good for if you want an OP-protag isekai that has the usual slice-of-life elements but also still has a serious plot and actual stakes.

Berserk 1997
Because it's awesome
Friend told me
Yeah
Dunno

Flying Witch. Was searching for kemonomimi porn on gelbooru when Inukai art showed up. Got confused at how what I thought was a relatively unknown manga had fanart so I looked more into the series and turns out it got an anime adaptation! Watched it expecting a vastly inferior adaptation and abso-fucking-lutely adored it. Last ep could've felt more conclusive like they could've animated everyone going to the festival but still liked it.

Favorite character's Nao Ishiwatari.

>What's your favorite anime and why?
Haruhi. I love the concept of a sci fi/rom com and how much it actually capitalizes on the premise.
>How did you come across it?
In 2006 on gamespot forums she was lots of people's avatars and signatures.
>Did you like the ending?
The books aren't over but the anime ended as well as any anime can.
>Who's your favorite character from the series?
it would be too obvious to pick the mc's although I love haruhi, so I'll say Koizumi and Asakura are my favorite.
