Is the anime worth watching first over the manga? Does the voice acting and ost make up for the slowly declining animation quality and censorship?

The anime's a pretty straight adaption, so you won't miss anything in that regard. Just do both.

NTA but I watched the anime first and read the manga afterwards, was no issues. You could just watch the first episode & read the first chapter and stick with whichever you prefer from there.

Yeah, you can't go wrong either reading/watching first. Mashima's art heavily carries the manga.

Don't do either. FT is absolutely garbage.

You could left the anime on and treat it as a drama CD while you read the manga.
The movies are worth watching in my opinion, especially the first one.
