Maid Dragon got to season 3, but it's not a romance.

Wtf is that blue hair alien? Is it supposed to have some payoff cause i'm kinda tuning it out. Feels extremely out of place.

This was pretty good. My only experience of yuri before this was getting filtered by citrus so i had a very negative view on this genre of romance.

Adashima is part of several novels in the same universe by the same author and his stories are full of alien stuff, but she does have a big payoff in this story:

She helps the reincarnations of Adachi and Shimamura reunite.

I would say just jump to Vol. 4. Some dork on /u/ told me to start from the beginning and it was a waste of time, the anime covers pretty much everything. Maybe a little less depth but it covers every plot point. Only start from Vol. 1 if you really want Shimamura's perspective since she doesn't have as much inner dialogue in the anime as Adachi.

Absolutely read the novels if you liked the series and want more. It may make the "S2 never" hurt more, but it's well worth it for seeing the two of them progress like they do.
