BLEACH anime wasn't cancelled

Why did you lie to me Any Forums? On 22nd April 2012 a month after the anime run finished, Ichigo's seiyuu Masakazu Morita and director Noriyuki Abe attended Australia con to promote the Hell Verse Movie. In the Q&A session someone asked Morita will the anime return?

He said that the anime run has finished but the manga is still going and Kubo-sensei has told them that the final episode/chapter is going to take a while to reach. All the staff and cast believe the anime will return before the manga ends.

As for the director Noriyuki Abe, he said that the anime has finished but they will be keeping close eye on the story and reading it along with the fans to see the massive developments reaching towards a big climax. The anime will return and we will continue from where we left.

These statements can be heard at 10.00 and 17.00 of the recording that was uploaded almost 10 years ago.

It seems that Kubo's health which resulted in the rushed ending, the novels being released till 2019 that covered important plot points that weren't addressed in the manga resulted in them taking much longer than expected to return.

The funny thing is Gintama and Fairy also went on breaks after their initial long runs to return on a seasonal basis around the same time.

I guess they didn't announce the anime after the manga ended like fairy tail because of the novels and rather went with the live action movie to keep the IP floating. Not the best decision I would say.
