The entirety of season 1 as well as sesaon 2's final two episodes warrant giving this show's director enough money to adapt or do whatever the fuck it is he wants to make. He's no highbrow, envelope pushing genius or anything, but he knows what buttons to push and what lines to cross better than anyone I've seen in a very long time. His style of directing is cheesy as fucking hell, but he understands his own limitations, what to do and what not to do and most importantly understands how to utilize subtle implications and visual cues to add some much needed in your face subtext. He'll never win any worthwhile awards, but he sure as shit has the potential to be one of Japan's next big entertainment directors. A 2020s/30s Shinkai of sorts. A1chads rise up. We'll retake this market.
