At what age did you "out-grow" certain anime genres or anime in general
For me, it was the harem genre. I used to like it in my teens, then i began to realize it was all self-insert bullshit.

same with isekai
Isn’t Overlord the same harem shit though?
overlord's harem is played off for laughs. You don't self inset as Ainz, or at the very least not as a romantic self insert. Ainz doesn't even has a penis, he's a skeleton. The show is entirely based around the characters and world, not off the MC being a no personality bum who still gets all the girls like most isekai/harems
It's still a harem isekai. You didn't "out-grow" the genres, whatever that means, you just found one you liked.

overlord is not a harem anime
have you ever watched overlord? the "harem" is played off for laughs because Ainz is a literal skeleton. The harem genre shows that I'm talking about are the ones with those generic black haired plain looking types that manage to get every single girl in the setting, typically in a school environment
2deep4u stuff
Life experience cannot be substituted with a piece of entertainment. And when I want more challenging artistic works I go to literature and film. Anime is great, honestly might be the peak of entertainment and escapism. But it's simply not suited for heavier themes. Manga is alright in this regard though.
I used to like all harem anime until I realized it was self insert.
Now I only like harem anime where the MC is based.
>harem anime
I never watched any but always looked up the lewd official and fan made arts, still do
Lately it's been battle shonen for me, been happening over the last year or so. It sucks because I have some weeb friends irl but all they wanna talk about Demon Slayer or Snk. I still like Jojo's and Gintama, but more for the wacky comedy
None, because I'm not an autistic manchild that needs to pretend to be "mature".
The better question is, at what question did you regrow to be acceptive of ANY kinds of anime?
Growing out of anime? Meh, normalfag tier shit, everybody goes through that.
Now REDISCOVERING anime universally is the real challenge
I just watch what I feel like watching and drop anything I don't feel like watching, simple as.
*at what age
Sorry for the typo. Anyways, the faster you realize that trying to quit anime because reasons is stupid, the healthier you'll be mentally.
Just balance your life out with other stuff, like music or art or picnicking or whatever.
i stopped watching anime in general because i enjoyed reading manga/LNs better.
>it was all self-insert
That's a major reason I watch anime to begin with.
I very rarely self insert because very rarely does anime have actual relatable cool MC characters, but I can easily "escapismize" into any genre
The good news is you found a way to feel superior to others with your taste. Good job user
like what you like user, don't listen to Any Forums's dogma
>At what age did you "out-grow" certain anime genres or anime in general
I outgrew mecha at around 22. Years ago.
>self-insert bullshit
this. can't stand it anymore. it's so cringy now. it's why I stick mostly to all girls shows with male characters being background nobodies or family members.
No, Overlord is just shit
