This anime has a really good OST. Can’t believe I missed it in 2018. What is Any Forums‘s opinion on the show?

netflix shit
Ok should’ve specified. Opinions from anyone who’s not a retard?
The show is a masterpiece, but you won't hear that from Any Forums.
Yuasa is now the name most cartoonists who hate anime quote as being their favorite. Tweens who pretend the 80s were gospel hate it for looking different.
This is a genuinely incredibly well thought out retelling or devilman with soul and thought put into every little details. The art style is different and a tad strange for some, but yuasa managed to craft something genuinely beautiful.
A majority of Any Forums was shitting on it because it wasn't a 100%, scene by scene recreation of the original manga. It was just pettiness and things that make no sense at all.
It's bad. Crybaby, the Live-Action adaptation, and Devilman Lady are some of the worst adaptations ever made in general. Only the type of retard who buys an iPhone could possible enjoy Devilman Crybaby.
I think it's overrated by people who barely watch anime. It's very weak and misdirected.
One of Yuasa's disappointing works
Except for the Japanese rap (it’s not my thing) that occasionally popped up I really enjoyed it
i love both devilman and yuasa but this was shit. stupid adaptation and the beginning of yuasa's downfall. notice how he hasn't produced anything of value since? he's contented himself to making garbage that sells. i miss the old yuasa
So anyone who's not you?
ebin gottem
Anyone who isn’t a contrarian gives zero fuck about what type of phone you have. I’ve had android, had iPhones, and gone back and forth over the years because they’re both the same thing with a different brand. Oh no but you’re different, you’re a special and unique guy. Not like those sheep.
>I think it's overrated by people who barely watch anime.
That’s AOT
James Rolfe referred to Netflixvania as "anime for people who don't actually like anime" - I sort of feel like that applies to a lot of Netflix's output, both the stuff they license and their own "Western anime" shows.
It is a decent show, the thing is whenever something releases on Netflix everyone just binges through it asap and this imo makes the quality suffer because at the end of the ride you're always exhausted and tired. It is like something that sucks the soul out of you and you can no longer enjoy nice things. For some reason all netflix shows at the end of the season suffer from evoking tiredness in the viewer (just one or two do not). I didn't mind the artstyle, the writing wasn't the best and sometimes it felt ridiculous. I liked the OVA style a ton better and it never meets that bar of quality. The music is great though but that was the only thing the show had going for itself.
Anyone with average pattern recognition skills can correlate stupid posters on iphones and shit taste.
I haven't seen this one or the original, but the original look way more cool. I tried watching a clip of this but it wasn't interesting. Even 1 clip of Lady Devilman looked more interesting than this. I'll just torrent the original once I finish what im currently watching.
>Yuasa
Gross
>always exhausted and tired.
but that's a great feeling. Its the same feeling you get after staying up all night to finish a good book, or finishing an essay you know you did good on.
> It is like something that sucks the soul out of you and you can no longer enjoy nice things
That's just needing a nap
Top tier, watching it was my favorite night of 2018. I wouldn't change a thing about it
To be honest, I tapped out after the first episode. I really liked the manga warts and all, and I could tell pretty quickly that this adaptation wasn't for me.
It seemed more like it was for the Twitter crowd that either isn't familiar with Go Nagai or actively hates him.
It's a really good show, yet falls a bit short compared to Yuasa's previous other works, and while it does gets memed a lot, this show was the start between the partnership between yuasa and netflix, which would go on to produce some sub par shows such as Japan Sinks. However, I'd say out of all the netflix originals, this is the only one which fully deserves this role, since it's gore and violence would not fit at all on TV. In terms of OST, it's by kensuke ushio, which not only sounds great; it's also really well integrated into the show, and while I do find myself listening to it in the free time, Ushio's work on PPTA, another Yuasa show, resonates that much more with me, overall one of my favorite anime OST. I can see why purists aren't a big fan of the more liberal adaptation of the original work, it's quite a departure from Go Nagai's style, it was quite refreshing for me, but the original manga is still what I'd come back to read. It's major strength is its aesthetics, the mix between psychedelic trances to extreme violence to nation wide hysteria is a perfect fit for the murky base colours to neon lights. Still, if what you want is a psychedilic fever trip, Yuasa's Mind Game, while having a significantly smaller budget, will give you it in spades, and still feels like it's a one of the kind movie.
For Any Forums as a whole, it was quite more divisive, from people who dislike yuasa's work in general to devilman purists, and even Yuasa fans weren't as captivated as before. While Any Forums tends to exaggerate things in their critiques, there's always a kernel of truth in them, and this one being that while great, it won't be as fondly remembered as his other works.
