People unironically think that the dull version of Shiou is a deep character. What went wrong?

People die when they are killed!
You say that as if the original is any better. In Kerry's case though it's just because he's an adult. Retards will think something is more mature just because the MC is an adult even if the guy is actually a stupid retard.
I don't care what you miserable cretins have to say, Kiritsugu Emiya is one of the most engaging and interesting characters in all of Fate. His fight with Kirei was breathtaking in it's execution.
Fate Zero will hold a special place in my heart and was the only real Fate series that enjoyed all the way through.
who cares. it doesn't matter
>People unironically think that the dull version of Shiou is a deep character. What went wrong?
People have been trained to believe that Naruto/One Piece/SAO/Fairy Tale/whatever is bad. Shirou looks like a generic light novel/shounen anime character, while Kerry doesn't, so ofcourse people are going to latch on to Kerry over Shirou.
can confirm, I regret watching Fate zero first ruined the rest for me.
Goes from an actual engaging battle royal to muh harem blank gary stu mcs.
black trenchcoat + cigarette + gun = "finally, a mature anime for mature anime viewers such as myself"
>has no problem with the jarring campy-ass zombie horseshit that takes place for two episodes
No one is saying it is really super mature but I much prefer Kiritsugu as the mc over Shirou any day of the fucking week.
I love how much kiritsugu makes vnfags seethe. Reminder to type-moon fags that kiritsugu shooting guns at mages will always be cooler than “muh conceptual anti reality beam laser vs muh proto casualitly anti-world” bullshit that almost every other fate work is.
Kerry’s a retard but it’s in a self destructive way and ends up miserable because of it. Meanwhile Shirou’s a retard but it’s in a cringe “lovable” sort of way where everything always ends up working out for him.
He's not deep but he's a good character
Fate Zero is the only good Fate. Kiritsugu is a better MC than Shirou.
Just as Shirou in the anime is a completely different character from VN Shirou, I feel that Kerry got a similar treatment (but not as bad). Shirou in the anime adaptations varies from mildly autistic to frustratingly stubborn and autistic. I remember sending a screenshot of Shirou's monologue to my anime only friend (the one where he says that he doesn't have an alarm clock because they're for degenerates). He thought it was an edit. Shirou just shifts his autism around slightly depending on the route. Kerry is full blown 14 year old deviantart OC edgelord, and it's great. I remember the line where he's eating the hamburger and he's reveling in the idea of the industrial slaughterhouse system. It's so beyond anything sensical that I would argue it's self parody. Who the fuck thinks Kerry is terribly "deep"? He is however a successfully executed and enjoyable to see, so I would label him as a good character.
I forgot to add after my third sentence that VN Shirou was so out there that he actively took me out of the reading experience and I had to take breaks continuously until I got used to him. But goddamn do I love him.
I never understood the "Kerry is a man-child" angle for him wanting to save the world. He's a utilitarian because that's what his experience has taught him to be.
As for "not having a specific enough wish", he had no reason to have one.
He had been told for 10 years by Acht that it's the magical wish granter that can give you anything, except just use it to open a route to the root for us, 'mkay?
He never had to come up with the route to world peace because Gandalf never told him he had to have one.
Shirou, on the other hand, gets his explanation from Kirei, the world's most suspicious priest. No shit he doesn't trust the Grail.
I absolutely hate Fate and I think but Zero and Stay Night suck but Shirou and Kiritsugu are my favorite characters.
Try again but this time don't be retarded.
>In Kerry's case though it's just because he's an adult.
Kiritsugu is great because he is flawed
In fact he's more of a "Western" type of characer
By that I mean, he isn't idealized to be morally superior. He suffers consequences for his actions, greatly.
The anime skips out of more layered arguments to be made in favor of Shirou. Shirou Emiya at wants to live to an impossible moral ideal, and in some routes comes to the realization he can't and either abandons his ideals, redefines his ideals, or foolishly tries to live up to them (resulting in Archer's existence).
I wanted to see the vampire chick return.
