Only in relation to discussing it and the "community." I'll still read/watch something but I'm less likely to discuss it or I'll bail out immediately if I know threads are going to be overrun with obsessive people. Main offenders are autistic shipfaggotry and people lashing out at others while using something as a vehicle for their own problems.
More fanart and other creative works are nice though so I wouldn't discourage something from becoming more popular.

no. I only have a problem when the fans of said popular thing start trying to make everything about themselves. Jojo for instance has one of the worst fanbases but I still enjoy the series, I just don't associate with them and refuse to mention that I like the show cause that's how it escalates and you'd never hear the end of it.
