Gunbuster

Went in expecting a short predictable mecha anime that looked ok. Instead I watched one of the most unique, concise and amazing, visually and thematically, shows across all media that I couldn't even imagine is possible to exist. I can't praise Gunbuster enough. I was totally blown away and gained even more respect and admiration for Hideaki Anno and GAINAX. If you haven't seen it yet add it at the top of your watchlist. It was fucking awesome.

>inb4 it's flawed, etc
I'm not going to suggest it's flawless, nothing is. But what is in there is so fucking good. I'm sure many would say it was rushed or that it didn't explore more the story and the concepts but I love how short and good it is.

I liked the tiddy animation

It was great

gunbuster is my eternal favorite ova

I'm not even its target audience and I think it's solid. I agree, not perfect but definitely solid.

Yeah, I'm sure you just watched it now, and this is not just a shitpost.

>I'm sure you just watched it now
I watched it yesterday night, I was intrigued by a thread where some anons were suggesting great classic anime.

I hated it.
It's shit, you can read way better manga or anime about space or mecha.

It's not "shit", it's just nothing special, yet boomers keep hyping it. If you keep pushing them even boomers will accept they only like the visuals, which are mediocre at best.

>It's not "shit", it's just nothing special
Well it's overhyped, yes.
I watched Macross as a child and it was way better than this storywise.
And beside the gainax bounce every now and then, the show has nothing for itself.

>visuals, which are mediocre at best.
Careful with that edge.

Slideshows with light effect are not good animation.

Bad bait because it's completely false.

I see the shitposters have already found this thread, Gunbuster is great OP, don't watch Diebuster though.

>Gunbuster is great
You can read good shit like picrel but instead you watch a bad 80s anime because it's gainax.
Key the metal idols, Angel's Egg or Dragon's Heaven are way better if you want to watch some old anime with good visuals and intersting stories.

>don't watch Diebuster though
I won't.

It was definitely solid. Not too passionate about it but it for sure deserves a passionate fanbase.

It's great but not exactly a masterpiece in my book, I don't know, some parts are a bit weaker

It's not unique at all. Everything about it from its themes, to character designs, to story progression are copied wholesale from the blueprint of a generic entry in its genre.

I loved it, it's one of my favs.
As for diebuster, i hated it, and not as a sequel but because it's shitty even if it were standalone.

I adored the ending to Diebuster, though.
