The Osamu Dezaki OVAs were really good. Mostly.

Ever read MW?

Is that a snake with tits on the left?

Going from the top down of that page, it looks like it's the rat girl turning herself into a snake. But keeping her tits.

Osamu Dezaki's take on Black Jack is better than the manga. There are some cheesy episodes, but overall his vision for Black Jack was far and away better than the original. Making the tone darker really fits. The art style and character designs are the biggest improvement on the manga. Making it look far more mature really adds to the atmosphere.

I still managed to enjoy the manga overall after watching the OVAs. But I agree, I definitely liked the more mature, darker tone. Even if Pinoko was still, well, Pinoko.

There must be a link between cartoonists and sexual deviancy.

When you have the ability to put anything that comes to mind to paper, especially through drawings, that power can easily corrupt.

I think the manga is enjoyable as well. I'm somewhere in volume 5 of the Vertical release. I just think the OVAs and the movie are better experiences overall. I also forgot to mention the fact that the episode length adds so much more to each story as opposed to each chapter being their own short story. I think the 20 pages is too short to get me anywhere near as emotionally invested in the characters as a 40 minute episode can.
