Best First Episode?

What are some of the best first episodes you've seen in an anime, even from those that dropped in quality later on?

Super Cub. Everything after the first episode was trash.

Yu-Gi-Oh! (1998) I really liked how cute they made Yugi and the theme of psychological trauma rather than physical violence to defeat the villain.

To your eternity

I rewatched Darling in the Franxx first episode like four times. Honestly blew my mind.
Sonny Boy also had a really good first episode.

Mars Red. Great first episode. Mostly falls apart afterwards.

your taste is so shit
this has to bait

>Sonny Boy also had a really good first episode.
That transition to the theme song when they jumped in the water is one of my favorite moments in an anime this decade.

Kiznaiver had a really good first episode, then the rest of it was shit

Outlaw Star is the last anime I have to watch to complete the "90s sci-fi space western" genre

I was initially going to ignore WEP but the first episode instantly hooked me. The writing seriously handled a real-world issue with a mystery that (at the outset) had so much depth and potential.
shame it only went downhill from that point.

Kill la Kill.
First episode was incredible, then shit went downhill

Macross Frontier

God why did you have to remind me.
That was such a strong beginning.
Such a shame how that show just fell apart.
They really shouldn't have introduced any of the weird sci-fi shit near the end. Or at least not in that way.

This is how you write an introductory episode to a character drama.

>Macross Frontier
Holy shit I forgot.
Macross Frontier's first episode was a fucking blast, it really sucks you in and makes rewatching the series so enjoyable.
Almost anytime I go back to rewatch it I inevitably end up watching the next batch of episodes.

what a pussy can't even quote directly

Speed Grapher is the one that comes to mind for me especially since you mention the drop in quality later on, hell this whole thread could basically fill out with GONZO titles.

I'm sure he did it intentionally to deprive that user of an undeserved (You)

The big O, episode 1 had me hooked from start to finish and sold me on the series.

That's what makes him a pussy, caring about (You)s reeks of insecurity.
