Whats wrong with people? You'd think hanging out with Luffy would improve her character, but shes only gotten worse. The only member I dislike more is Usopp, but its getting close, at least he had positive character development. At this rate I'm expecting her to betray Luffy for treasure, thats the only reason she still follows him after all.

She's shown she can be a good friend, resourceful, helpful as a member of the crew and a voice of reason to Luffy's shonentardation.
And she's fanservice, but that's not the only thing she is which makes her good.

Nami is one of the most loyal "angry girl" characters in shonen.
Since Arlong she has never fucked over Luffy, never betrayed him, never been tempted, never tried to manipulate or turn him astray. She is almost as scared as Usopp and still throws herself in without question.

I believe that the way One Piece is written and the premise give a lot of credence to Nami as a character.
She is loyal as hell to her crew and the fun nature of the series allows her to be mean to the crew when jokes are made at her expense.
As pirates the Strawhats can freely fuck over other people and steal because that’s just what pirates do, and that’s exactly how Nami’s character was after joining the crew.

Because she's an adorable tangerine, who's fiercely loyal, despite being the most 'human' of Luffy's crewmates, after Usopp. Though she's a greedy whore when it comes to berries and isn't above manipulating her opponents to rob them blind, she falls in line and helps her captain whenever she gets a chance. Going to Whole Cake Island to get Sanji back, because she, Chopper and /Brook felt bad about him leaving when they were used as hostages to get him to comply was a huge moment for Nami; that Oda would have her help Luffy defeat Cracker really did her character a world of good. That she literally stole a part of Big Mom's soul made me like her even more. That she would go on to stand up to Ulti on during the raid while being hopelessly outmatched sealed the deal.
Ignoring all the above, that she's the crew's navigator when long runner series generally phase characters like her out is reason enough to like Nami, especially when most shonen series coasts on doing anything significant with female characters outside using them as a prop to couple with the MC.
