Redline

It's kind of bad, isn't it. I think Space Dandy did the space race thing better.

The writing is kinda garbage because it was made as a passion project by the animators in their spare time and the focus is all over the place and basically the whole plot is "there's a race and a subplot about corruption". Visually is a masterpiece tho

Yeah that's exactly it, though Visually it's a bit overdone too IMO. I get tired of the animation too towards the end

Nattatively it's pretty weak, but damn if the characters and settings aren't top tier enjoyable, music also
There's also a level of passion and love put into it that shines through, there's no cynicism to be found in Redline. It's one of those few anime where the message from the creators is simply "Here's a cool thing we made, have fun bro."

Redline has some excellent worldbuilding and the characterization is subtle but surprisingly rich. Everyone brims with personality there's just not enough time to let every character shine which is fine for a fun action movie.
I don't get where this "the writing is bad" meme comes from. Are you faggots just so opposed to fun?

fun does not mean good.

Take that stick out of your ass, Redline is great.

Opinion discarded.

fun does indeed mean good in an entertainment medium

>excellent worldbuilding
Strange aliens in the background is not worldbuilding
>the characterization is subtle but surprisingly rich
80% of the cast has two lines of dialogue at max, JP is barely a character
>Everyone brims with personality
This is not writing, this is visual storytelling

I would love to see more directorial work by Takeshi Koike. Though he might be too old, now.

It's what introduced me to the concept of "style over substance". it's a cool anime with great animation, but the praise it gets is so overblown it let you down when you actually rewatch it.

Strange aliens in the background is not worldbuilding
The things those aliens say and do is the worldbuilding. The conflict of interest between all the different parties is interesting. The way all the events play out aren't cut and dried but dynamic and realistic. I'm not saying Redline is a literary masterpiece but it's writing and worldbuilding is more solid and competent than the vast majority of anime out there.
>80% of the cast has two lines of dialogue at max, JP is barely a character
Because writing quality is determined by how much people talk. The fact that it doesn't follow the usual anime conventions where a character will explain another character's personality in detail is one of it's strengths. It's an action movie, not a complex character drama.
>This is not writing, this is visual storytelling
>visual storytelling
>story telling

His work on Lupin is pretty damn good too.

It comes from zoomers who think Gen urobochi does good writing. Unless the characters are screaming their shallow philosophy in long winded epic monolgues it's not good writing.
Commit suicide

cope. you like schlock and probably think kawajiri's b-movie mediocrities are good because they are le pretty pictures

Ninja Scroll is actually pretty good. Go back to Madoka, Psycho Pass and Fate you colossal faggot.

Wicked City or Bloodlust are better written than anything Urobuchi wrote.

>Bloodlust
I thought ninja scroll was far better and tighter film
>better written than anything Urobuchi wrote.
That is evident

both are trashy light novel shit. you're just grading evils when realistically they're both trash. lotgh is the only well written anime.

Funny because Logh is a light novel

>w-w-well yeah it's fun but achctually it needs to be deep or it's not good because I can't make a pretentious video essay on it...
neck yourself

>intense race sequence to get the boner going
>nice
>followed by nearly the rest of the entire movie spent with Sonoshi watching fucking Redline commercials and people just squatting around doing fuck all basically until the Red Line race.
The story in redline is fucking dog shit because of that.

Those were character and worldbuilding moment. When JP was exchanging money you were supposed to be in awe at the insanity of the world, dude almost loses his head to some insane alien cashier.
That insanity and fast pacedness is reflected in the races and characters.

That was just one example, between the Yallow line and Redline you also got to see Shonoshee's tits which is very important.
