Dub watcher confirmed. The whole point of his character is that he's putting up a massive front to hid how broken he is inside, like the rest of the cast. The English dub misses this and think the characters are what they actually pretending to be. The dub thinks Spike is the coolest person in the world where original audio really brings out how goofy is trying to act cool. Like Feye isn't a femme fatale, she's some desperately trying to be one and failing at it, Megumi Hayashibara is much better at conveying this than her dub counterpart.
