Do any fanbases other than yurifags actually care about female friendships in anime? Have you ever picked up a series because you were interested in a seeing a platonic friendship develop between two girls?

I guess the answer is no then.

Kon was cute

don't answer your own qurstion stupid faggot

Nobody buys the "just good friends" bullshit anymore. Contrary to what Any Forums will tell you, most yuri series do have strong platonic friendships between girls who aren't considered romantic interests. Nobody has a problem with those. But you can't give two protagonists all the classic romantic developments and then pretend like there was nothing going on. A late appeal to waifufags doesn't work because they weren't interested in the first place. They have much better options pandering to their interests. Publishers are slow to catch on, but even Kirara is changing its ways, moving further and further from the subtext safety blanket.

I do think a good solid friendship is still satisfying to see, but anime sells on sex. Friendship between adjacent characters is just the side dish. You can't find a male sports anime that isn't targeting fujos. Likewise, you can't find an all girls cast anymore that isn't targeting yurifags. It's only going to keep getting more blatant with time.
I wish Urara came out late enough to benefit from that. Also I wish the anime had gotten the attention it deserved.

I thought Hanayamata was an amazing and heartwarming friendship anime and it didn't trigger any yuri thoughts with me.

>Hanayamata
You didn't sense any one-sided love from Yaya?

Hibike, I guess

It's pretty much this, actually the market itself adapted to this already and some publishers are late to catch on, yurifags don't care for girls acting gay with no payoff and waifufags don't want girls acting gay with each other because it makes them look gay and not really interested in the male MC.

Culture changed and lesbians are not just a fetish for the consumer anymore, so it makes really hard to pull that off, everyone takes those behaviours at face value now.

can you fuck off with your shitty ships already, kuukaafag?

I don't think i've ever watched a show on the premise of it displaying good friendships. I just expect it to exist at some point if the cast is consistently together.

Barring some egregious couples I guess most iM@S girl-on-girl relationships don't really go past "good friends"
