Finally watched 3.0 +1.0

>finally watched 3.0 +1.0
Christ, Any Forums weren't kidding about this. This wasn't even like the original series or EoE where you had to piece things together to understand plot points; this just straight up off-screened some of the crucial plot points.

The most interesting parts of the movie were the shit they just mentioned in passing (e.g. NERV civil war)

I'm willing to concede that I just got filtered or didn't pay close enough attention, but what's the coherent explanation for shit like 'Yeah, Evas are the pinnacle of bioengineering and require the development cost of a small country's GDP, but here's 6 billion of them.' The original series was obtuse, but it still made fucking sense in context with its own universe.

The most insulting thing was that it didn't even have any really memorable sequences like Unit 02 vs MP Evas in End of Evangelion; Unit 13 and Unit 01 got a chuckle out of me with the different locales and the throwback to Human Instrumentality in the original series, but the animation was absolute shite.

tl;dr: just what you'd expect from the Master, Mr Anno

because they were traumatized by the past terrible Gainax management, Anno and others acted more like producers than actual artists in the Rebuild movies, ensuring products that would be well-received both critically and commercially. You might not like it, but the majority of the people did and still do.

Asushin will never be canon, get over it

>well-received critically
Would have always agreed with 'commercially' because it's Eva and is a Japanese licence to print money, but I had to check on the critical reception. Fuck me dead, I'm even more baffled now.

The village sequence and Shinji vs Gendo was kino, everything else was trash

thanks to Shinji being in an LCL coma for years over the timeskip between 2.0 and 3.0, Gendo had enough time to master the ADAM powers he got from inserting into himself the Key of Neduchanezaar (i.e what remains of ADAM's physical body). He plundered other EVA timelines for raw resources including scrapped EVAs, and converted Nerv HQ into a fully autonomous mass production plant.
Yes this is only alluded to by like three lines from Gendo to Shinji near the end

So the whole 'infinite universes' thing that was alluded to at the end as part of the whole 'anti-universe' point is essentially where everything came from?

>I'm even more baffled now.
are you really? only a small portion of the general audience are active, critical viewers. the majority just feel whatever the soundtrack tells them to feel.

>Gendo had enough time to master the ADAM powers he got from inserting into himself the Key of Neduchanezaar (i.e what remains of ADAM's physical body). He plundered other EVA timelines for raw resources including scrapped EVAs, and converted Nerv HQ into a fully autonomous mass production plant.

Or maybe they just had access to an s2 engine and a billion rei clones to automate production. I'm pretty sure the writers even said everything's automated. Plus Gendo only inserted the key during 3.0's ending because he still has the bag containing it when he is talking to SEELE.

>a billion rei clones to automate production
how to fix 3+1: musical montage of all the blue collar rei clones working on the assembly line

Do you expect the majority to use their brain to think about this movie through?
Unlike the autists on Any Forums who discussed about this series for years prior to the movie, the average fans won't even remember the plot that much and won't even care about it.
All they know is super cool robots fight and some decent soundtrack from the movie.

I assume that Gendo started wearing the visor when the key turned his fake into an impact crater since he's not the kind of man to change his look for non-practical reasons. And if he didn't want SEELE to realize he'd already used it on himself it'd make sense to bring the container with him like everything was normal with it

Critics are NPCs who feel obliged to give Eva positive reviews simply because it's Eva.

Yeah, from a metanarrative sense this is meant to be the absolute endgame of Eva, the Ultimate Gendo(as something of an allegory for the unintended franchise bloat over the years) thats played all the dating sims and read all the mangas and all the AU adaptions and all the fanfics and listened to all the screenplays and thrown together piecemeal the ultimate Evangelion Merch collection to be sacrificed to summon the Ultimate Evangelion Unit made of pure imagination so he can FINALLY be with his waifu forever

I liked it more than the og series + EoE, but I still think it's badly written, just less so.

>master the ADAM powers he got from inserting into himself the Key of Neduchanezaar (i.e what remains of ADAM's physical body). He plundered other EVA timelines for raw resources
What does any of that even mean. How is the average unautistic viewer supposed to piece that together

They weren't supposed to?

Why do people like this franchise?

because most normalfags don't give a shit about lore.

But the plot hardly makes any sense and they spend plenty screen time expositing lore babble without actually explaining it

I watched the first 15 minutes of this, and see no reason to continue. I don't even like Evangelion much.
Is there anything in the movie that is actually entertaining, will enable me to shitpost Eva threads, gives me closure about the franchise, or anything else that isn't just completionism?

You think they care?
There is a girl who write a review about how Anno created 4 movies about his self-insertion, and she complained that it shouldn't take 4 movies for that.
Guess what?
Some fans got angry at her and told her that her review might make Anno kill himself.
Yes, this level of dick sucking exists.

>actually entertaining
no
>gives me closure about the franchise
no
>anything else that isn't just completionism?
no
>will enable me to shitpost Eva threads
100% yes

The ending is happy unlike EoE. You get to see Mari naked and Rei wonders if her boobs have milk. Shinji sorta kinda calls out Gendos hypocrisy. Sort of

After this movie, you can larp as a rebuildshitter to troll Asushinfags or just annoy people in general.

I don't understand why they were going to shoot shinji, what were their other options?
Why even give the pink hair bitch any character now after her 1 dimensional presence in 3.0?
