I figured it out bros, it's a bit of a stretch but hear me out:
Luffy actually died in Impel Down. Bon Clay, unable to cope with his death went crazy and decided to assume his identity. The Luffy we've been watching since Impel Down is just Bon Clay in disguise. But Bon Clay appear alongside Luffy and sacrificed himself in Impel Down you ask? That's actually his secret brother Sabon Clay. Sabon is the real user of Mane-Mane, Bon himself actually have the fruit even rarer than mythical zoan: divine zoan, he has the GOD-GOD fruit model Nyarlathotep. It's similar to Mane-Mane but his fruit can even copy the DF of the people he transforms into. Bon went crazy and thinks he's Luffy, that's why he didn't notice how strange it is that he can use Luffy's Gomu-Gomu. But after being bonked by Kaido enough times he finally snapped out of it. CP0 guy realized this which is why he risked his life to kill him but it's too late. Now completely sane aware of the full potential of his fruit, Bon will use the thing he did to Sanji at Alabasta where he can combine the features of several people and then combine all the fruits that he has encountered before and kill Kaido and destroy the world. Eventually he will touch and collect the power of all the fruits. Yes, he will combine all the fruits... into One Piece
