To be an expert on mecha you need to watch NGE, TTGL, and Hathaway's Flash

To be an expert on ecchi you just need to watch Kill La Kill

To be an expert on cope you need to watch Attack on Titan

All of it

The path towards mastery never ends.

You're not an expert until other qualified people decide that you're an expert, user. I suggest seeing if you can impress Miyazaki Hayao.

you don't need to know anything to be an expert

between 100-1000, 200 is a good amount

You only need to watch like 12 anime out there to be considered an 'expert'. Make sure they are popular(Any Forums will hate this) and from a variety of different genres. After watching 12 of the best anime from their respective genre's you'll find they all have the same plot-beats and character-outlines so you won't really need to watch any more. Unless you find something else out there that you like OP, have fun.
So do your research and pick 12 of those top anime out there.

You only need to watch this list.
kiss x sis, oreimo, imouto saeba ii, koi kaze, oni ai and yosuga no sora.

enough to avoid developing any other important life skills and be chronically unemployed and single

>Miyazaki Hayao
This means watching every loli anime in existence.

When you start seeing the tropes before they happen

>According to Mamoru Oshii, when Tokuma Shoten featured Cream Lemon, Hayao Miyazaki was pissed off. He threw his trophy given by Tokuma and crushed it.
He hates loli anime.

Calling yourself an "anime expert" is the most Reddit thing you can do on this board

All of it.

500 series at the bare minimum
