Still fun, still highly entertaining, still good. Trigger's been chasing Gurren Lagann all these years for a reason.

As overplayed of a trope it is it would have been better if Simon was a chosen one or descended from Lordgenome or something to give an excuse for why he's so powerful. As it is he's the strongest for no reason.

First 8 episodes before the guy's death is great, everything after is pretentious bullshit

I haven't watched any of Trigger's new stuff, but I remember watching BNA and it's looking like they're finally moving away from copying Gurren Lagann, though now they're just copying their own (kinda shitty) formula

Great series. Its hype as fuck if you like giant robots and ridiculous over the top stuff where people just shatter reality by believing in themselves and their friends hard enough.

It's a great love letter to a genre that the creators clearly had passion for.

He's got the highest spiral energy level because he has the most potential to evolve and grow. His mind is open, and his fierce belief in himself and in his companions catalyzes the outpouring of spiral energy into usable matter and energy. One of the Parallel Works showed that Lordgenome was the exact same way, as a boy he found a Lagann and took to the stars, where he and his compatriots found and fought the Anti-Spirals. But while the others wanted to keep fighting, Lordgenone's determination to save the universe and humanity from the Spiral Nemesis caused him to crush humanity underfoot and subjugate them underground.

1st half is good, 2nd half is absolute garbage. Literally who characters doing "epic" things lul

Last 16 episodes (no recap episode) after the guy's death are great, everything before is monster of the week bullshit

Something I came to really appreciate on a recent rewatch is how the character designs evolve with time and the implications that Lagann is self aware, which I've always loved.

i honestly cant remember if the animation is good or not, i was gonna check the fights but i couldnt find one, so it probably doesnt have enough fighting.
I just remember thinking kaminas death was a pretty gay plotpoint and simon was kind of a deku tier character and all the relationships are shitty
That being said i remember it was fun and i love that director so i bet it was pretty fun

It's good, but it feels like animators were on a tight budget. Half of the fights are just stills with effects thrown on top of them.
