There were books that might be better structurally and prose-wise but they didn't match my values and were life-affirming to be included in my 3x3. It's probably a difference in how we see 3x3. I see 3x3 as a collection of what I consider great works that also reflect my values. Basically 'these are great and they are who I am' rather than just 'these are the best things I've experienced. The personal aspect of a 3x3 is important because if you've watched all anime, it doesn't merely come down to just the best of all the things you've watched but the best that you like because of what they are.
