I like Lum too but you can't deny a lot of the retro anime watchers around here are arguably worse, I mean just look at thronritter.
Really the problem is that a lot of people who watch this kind of stuff in general take the meme of "2d > 3d" literally and never talk to women when stuff like maison ikkoku was meant to show real relationship drama, not how cartoon are better than real life.
