Before I had read that series it was usually just normal shit. Usually a ride down a long road with the wind in my hair. Very boomer.
After reading the series, the idea got in my head and I have not found a better visualization.
As for lucid dreaming, it's hard to describe how you get it, you just do. Before sleeping I lay there and imagine the scene and all the details. Then as it goes along it becomes more relaxing until I am out both in the dream and I guess IRL. Before I'm out though it's weird, I can rewind events and edit them to my liking.

A word of warning though, since I made this mistake. Make sure your scene is a relaxing one. If you do a high stakes action one you might lucid dream the whole night. You wake up the next day extremely tired. Do it enough and it could cause some major physiological problems similar to just not sleeping. The brain needs that nothing happening time to process. Without it you go nuts.
