Storytime: Saike Mata Shitemo / Yakety Sax no Saike Volume 6
I should say, the reason I hung in even with Ueki Minus is Fukuchi does have a Talent to rescue/salvage things that are going bad. Part of the trouble with Minus being that he didn't. On top, to this day Robert's 10 is the part of Ueki I like the least, or at best it competes with the trashy presentation of volume 4.
So I was well-accustomed to grinning and bearing it. And this arc does something that should help the trio in the future (Get Saike acquainted with the members of Johann's hijacked crew), so it's not a TOTAL waste of time in a narrative sense.
Nevertheless, if you're not familiar with Fukuchi's plot rescues (and even if you are?), I can see getting the inclination to drop it soon. My suggestion is: Read up to where Hizu declares he'll find Saike no matter what, and then, if you're hating the pace, wait until the fights start up again in this volume; you'll skip what people found to be a slog, while still getting necessary info from the volume. (If I remember this time, I'll link the posts in question together.)
Seriously, I highly recommend not slogging through the early chapters here if you hate them. If you're determined to read the entire volume, just come back to those chapters after the end.
Oh my... that's quite the misunderstanding on my part.
For the record, I too prefer the unfinished version. It really makes more sense for him to look ragged on that cover.
If that's his reason, then it's generous for Johann to let Kuroda go instead of brainwashing him into accord. I guess on some level he did genuinely care about Kuroda?
Ah yes, the Amnesia arc, also known as Johann-being-the-biggest-love-to-hate-son-of-a-bitch arc.
Truly. He's done well at making me feel murderous.
True, although later on I like his redemption arc.
Poor Hizu.
Same here. His reasons for becoming villainous made sense, too.
And, even if just for the show of it, I found his rematch with Saike to be beautiful.
Right? His reason to live, and he had to give that up to protect it.
Dogdamn, his eyes are creepy when half-open.
Love the visual representation of the holes in his head.
All right, there we are. If I forget, the place you should pick back up if you're skipping will be about 22 posts from now.
(Thank goodness for doublepaging.)
What the hell are some of these names.
