Sony bought Crunchyroll under the Funimation Global Group LLC. So it's not wrong to say Funimation owns Crunchyroll. Also note, todays merging of the library also had them change from Funimation Global Group LLC to Crunchyroll LLC. So effectively, Crunchyroll owns Funimation now.

I always do that but it takes up so much space on my laptop that I can' only keep one series at a time. If it's streamable on CR, then I use my friend's account that he and his family use and have premium on. It's rare though.

Great, Funi's encodes have been even worse than they used to be for the past few seasons. I wonder if this will lead to anything with Netflix or Amazon trying to move in or whether Japanese committees are fine selling everything to a monopoly. I'll just torrent it anyway but if Netflix moves in the encodes should be higher quality.
