He was the greatest protagonist we've ever had. Nobody will ever top him.

Lightbros..we can't even get a single bump?
He fucking lost. Protagonists don't lose.
I dont bump gay threads
The best
I miss him bros
>gets a murder weapon that makes it impossible to be caught for murder
>gets caught for murder
Light was a retard, best boy mogged him and the Shinigami King
Not true.
He didn't lose. He won my heart.
Not the greatest but he broke the circle of dumb underage shonen MCs
So instead we got a dumb not underage shonen MC?
I'm still salty how he still lost even though he had a perfect plan. Near even admitted as such that there weren't any openings to try to catch him.
Wrong image.
there is no such thing as "the perfect murder." every time you interfere with the otherwise natural order of the world it leaves a trace. given enough time a skilled detective could figure out that there's only one person who could possibly know all the names and faces of the murder victims.
He was the Eren of the early 2000s.
He also lost cause of an extra rule that was added after the fact that he didnt know about didnt he
This. Based zoomer.
Yeah the Shinigami king got angry that someone sold a Death Note and added a rule just to fuck him over. If not for that he would've entirely won.
>wants to change the world and become a god
>only kills people already in jail/prison
Light was a fucking moron. Any edgy teen on Any Forums could come up with the much simpler and more effective idea of killing government officials, bankers, CEOs, oligarchs, dictators, war criminals etc basically public figures who do bad things.
You could do that for years without ever revealing that you need the names and faces of people.
He didn't really lose, he just didn't consider an outside entity to bend the rules because its feelings got hurt.
...
hes the greatest childish protagonist
Death Note was dumb from the start because Light was always an arrogant and greedy fuck who never had any higher ideals and acted when there was no reason to. He basically cucks the viewer out of a protagonist who genuinely believes he is fighting for something and who ends up using the note out of desperation and foils the investigation for much longer, rather than being an impulsive megalomaniac from the get go.
Protagonists are the center of the story, they aren't infallible, and their failures are just as important as their successes.
