B) Norlingen is especially cool
C) Star-Walls look very silly despite being very clever

They like the fantasy genre more than sci-fi genre, I guess. Though I'm not saying anime with robots can't be made, sure, given 1000 isekai worlds most of them will not think to make it steampunk.

A mistake
The same reason every fantasy is based on tolkien.
People are familiar with it.
If an isekai attempted to craft a more unique setting, like The Matrix for example or FFX's spira, they'd have to spend more resources and time developing it during preproduction and also on screen.
When you set your isekai in a fantasy world people are familiar with you don't have to explain as much.
Also it means you'd have an easier time as an artist trying to design things like armors and monsters, or as an animator trying to draw them.

Isekai writers don't image about cities. Isekai asked too much of animators.
