Why does nearly every isekai takes place in the same setting?

Why does nearly every isekai takes place in the same setting?

Because it's isekai

An optical illusion.

Because isekai causes animators to lose all their creativity

Isekai is all about self inserting for power and romance fantasy.
All of them.

>cut to an establishing shot of a street that has vendors on either side

>GENTLEMEN!
>Kadokawa Nördlingen City Template BAD!
>Upvote me!

Two middle ones are from konosuba and the top one from the anime that recycled konosuba backgrounds

>Romance

But republic doesn't exist. Kingdoms or empires.

I get it.

A) Walled cities are cool
B) Norlingen is especially cool
C) Star-Walls look very silly despite being very clever

Dot hack and Haibane Renmei both kicked off the trend of enclosed, rounded hub cities.

it's the peak city performance

They like the fantasy genre more than sci-fi genre, I guess. Though I'm not saying anime with robots can't be made, sure, given 1000 isekai worlds most of them will not think to make it steampunk.

Because Japan is the last empire in the world.

A mistake

The same reason every fantasy is based on tolkien.
People are familiar with it.
If an isekai attempted to craft a more unique setting, like The Matrix for example or FFX's spira, they'd have to spend more resources and time developing it during preproduction and also on screen.
When you set your isekai in a fantasy world people are familiar with you don't have to explain as much.
Also it means you'd have an easier time as an artist trying to design things like armors and monsters, or as an animator trying to draw them.

If you're interested this is a lecture that goes into it with much more depth.

Isekai writers don't image about cities. Isekai asked too much of animators.

We just had a post-apocalyptic future isekai last year. Why didn't you watch it?

How else would I self-insert as a MC and imagine banging all these hot elves?

it's the isekai multiverse, all the MCs would run into each other in the city and hang out

was it any good though

It's a regulation put out by isekai writers' guild

You mean Isekai Quartet?

Many cities looked like that in the middle ages but the walls were then usually torn down
