Nah disagree it’s really good.
I kinda thought it was a rip off of Monogatari at first, then I learned how old the books were
Although saying that, Kyoto Ani definitely tried to go a Shaft-Monogatari directorial style with Hyouka. It did it pretty decently.
And for our MC, Hotarou.. I like him. Like genuinely like him. He’s not doing the energy conservation thing because he’s a Mary Stu or the narrative treats it as cool. It’s almost literally spelled out that he’s depressed, and you see him go towards extreme depression in the OVA after the movie arc. Watching him not able to even muster energy to respond to his friends hurt.
But yeah, Hotarou is a great MC and Hyouka is a great show. It’s very character oriented

why is that? even lucky star and k-on were meh, so were keyshit shows. the only entertaining ones were the movies and fmp/amagi

its not the best show in the world but i enjoyed it
