But the 8th gen games/anime pissed me off so much, I quit looking forward to new games entirely. And this new 9th gen looks like Sword/Shield 2: Electric Boogaloo and more of the same shit I hated

The gameplay is continuing that awful open world memeshit that SwSh started. Not only that, but the world itself visually still looks as half-assed as ever.
You see games like Elden Ring offer a stunningly beautiful world. And then see Nintendo still pumping out these low budget gamecube graphics in 2022.

The switch is capable of good visuals. BOTW and Xenoblade chronicles 2 looks great despite the 720p and Tegra 3 mobile chip cap. Only until recently did GameFreak drop the sprites in favor of 3D models with XY/ORAS.
