I hate when Naruto/Jojo fans who recently got into One Piece say this. One Piece has ALWAYS been garbage, it's nothing new. Hell, the worst bit of writing in the entire series by far (pic related) happened in THE SECOND MAJOR ARC, back in the early 2000s.
Almost forgot how bad early One Piece was. A Yonko had his arm eaten by a swimming cow, yet some random bird dude was completely unharmed by a nuke.
Jackson Thompson
guy gets literally nuked in an epic self-sacrifice scene then turns out just fine 2 pages later
Nathan Cox
the cow was arlong's pet. the one that bit of shanks arm was a different one. but yeah maybe shanks couldve used haki there
Joshua Cook
Pell somehow survived a nuke, with no explanation given, and after they made a big deal about how Pell was so brave to sacrifice himself for the sake of his kingdom.

One Piece is the most well written shounen by a long shot. it's the furthest thing from a mess you can get for a long running story. Only retards that can't pay attention to details or have any capacity for looking at the big picture would call it a mess, especially compared to series like Jojo or Naruto, the inconsistencies are so minor that they're not even worth bringing up. Keep in mind that people hold One Piece to a far higher standard when it comes to writing, if Oda pulled shit half as bad as any other shounen people would drop it immediately. People who say post time skip is bad are whiny children who can't stand long arcs and weekly reading, it's not because they find legitimate problems with the writing.

>the most well written Shonen
I'd say it's the second most well written Shonen. Death Note is always #1.

There's still time for Oda to fuck things up. He could pull a Naruto and throw in a surprise final boss out of nowhere during the final arc of the series. Or he could pull a Bleach and reveal that Shanks is evil and has been manipulating Luffy the entire time.
I hate Rebecca, but I don't have an issue with any of the other new characters.
Joshua Perez
You even like Jack? Kanjuro? Orochi? I fucking HATE them.
Camden Howard
Thriller Bark was when the series really lost steam, with Zoros moment with Kuma in the end being the last good moment in OP. It's a shame to see how far it fell.
Wyatt Turner
>implying the binks no sake scene wasn't good
Bentley Thompson
I liked Im's reveal desu
Eli Perez
I like garbage sometimes

The green dragon who ate off shanks' arm was made of dragon's wind fruit. Shanks was there trying to slave Luffy
One Piece is far more consistent than most shonen because after a while Oda found a formula and started playing it safe. That has been the case for the entirety of past time skip, it really feels like he's going through the motions, which makes sense considering he had 20 years to plan where his storyis going.
Other shonen like Bleach, Naruto, Jojo and others may not be as tightly structured but they aren't afraid of doing crazy shit and breaking formula, which for one piece han't arrived since marinford. This does give more opportunity to jump the shark, but it keeps it engaging.
