The pressure from the PTA to restrict sexuality in manga and anime was already high in the 1970s, but Go Nagai continued to fight back. Rumiko Takahashi was the main reason why we were able to avoid restrictions on expression as much as possible after the 1980s. She was a woman, and many of those who called for the regulation of expression were women.
