What do you mean nothing was explained? Girls are emotional and do shit without thinking, that's all the explanation you should need.

I think it could have been saved right up until the last episode, if “You forgive easily. Sometimes need someone like that or we'll never be saved” was foreshadowing. Instead of out-of-character Ai turning racist and dumping her best friend just for being artificial, she could have started thinking of Frill as a person. Then (foreshadowed) Ai and Neiru enter eggspace together and Ai talk no jitsus her.

Then, possible ending #1: Accas were lying about her, and all five girls decide to team up against them (second season hook)

Possible ending #2: Frill is remorseful, reveals where her AI is running, and asks to be turned off; (foreshadowed) Ai and Neiru press the button together.
