If someone claimed these were his favorite anime, which one would you think was something he didn't actually watch & pretended to like for hipster cred?

Utena

I wouldn't give enough of a fuck to think about that
restrain your idiocy to 3x3 threads

this is a 4x3 though...

No this is 3 x 4

Lain

no its 2x3x2x3

either rose of versailles (too old) or legend of the galactic heroes (too long)

I don't make those kinds of assumptions about strangers. Someone says they like a thing I believe them

Kinos journey.
I hated it. Understand why someone can like it. But a favorite anime? Its too boring and slow for that.

Versailles. Old, critically acclaimed, but can be a bit of a slog to go through before the director change. It's a hard watch for its first 8 episodes I'd say

Rose of Versailles aged significantly better than 90% of anime from its era. It’s probably one of the easiest 70s anime to watch today because of how well it’s aged and how engaging the story is. I wouldn’t really call any of OP’s picks “poser” material since they’re all just very popular anime that are often considered to be among the best ever made.

Admittedly however, Evangelion has a bad reputation of being “babby’s first deep anime” through no fault of its own. So genuine pseuds are most likely to gravitate towards that.

Fuck you

Utena is trash and Onii-sama E is Mexican soap opera tier that people only like for "muh Dezaki" internet points.

Utena not trash go home

just because it aged better, and it's admittedly one of my favorite anime, doesn't mean it's mainstream. The OG shoujo it may be, but it's still a hard watch for I'd say a majority of anime watchers

i dunno, why would anyone even do that, is this hypothetical person like a 5 year old or something?
maybe eva because it's by far the most popular, has the status of being deep, it's easy to infer shit that happens in the plot just through absorption, and there's probably a shit ton of video essays explaining why it.
which, now that i think about it, i'm sure there are people who prefer to watch those over the actual shows covered in such videos, which is kinda sad.

LoGH due to length

easy, Evangelion
