Phos! The most innocent yet perceptive of the gems was tricked by a Aechmea aka, a manipulative sociopathic homosexual the leader of the materialist loving lumanirans. The first reason was so that all the parts of humanity could go back to source, but on the way there Aechmea decided the best options was to enslave the flesh crabs and systematical terrorize the poor gems. Then feed the shattered gems to the crabs and or spread them across space so they could never be brought to gather again. Kinda ironic isn't.
But Aechmea problem was a depressed buddhist monk robot, who was the only one who could pray to make everyone ascend, instead of think outside the box he went the most sadistic(feminine) route. His plan was to torture the confused robot by systematically killing the gems who he loved and viewed as children(his lost brother).
His first target was lapis, but she was too smart so he killed her off. Then as he waited he masturbated to gem butts and launched raid against the gems with his highly advance monitors system that he uses 24/7. Then he found phos, a naive gem but perceptive unlike the others, so his plan was to create the perfect "conspiracy theorist" of the gems, so he could betray the monk. Adding lupis parts to phos, since phos encountered many "near death experiences" and the other gem parts allowed phos to think more logically and remove his love for the suicidal monk. Phos becomes aware of himself(paranoid) and tries to learn the truth of his reality, which no other gem does beside lapis.
Long storyshort phos brought the faggot ghost a gay black boy slut who bullies phos. Then as time progress everyone hates phos(except monk). They break him, and lock him away for hundreds of years. Which left phos in a state of madness, enough to gemocide all the gems. After phos killed all his old friends(attachments) he became human once again, and now we have to wait 10000 years or until haruko ps5 dies for the other chapter.

jellyfish is the flesh of humans (no not literally you twat), they're the most humanlike, but they die shortly (give or take 50 years) after they're born, and are susceptible to shit like cold, hunger, and getting fucking stabbed.
Gems are the bones of humans (no not literally you twat). They are the foundation of what a human is. They're able to die, but for all intents and purposes are immortal, but more of a pseudo-immortality, in that if you grind them to dust they "die" in the sense that unless someone puts them back together they won't really be able to live.
moonies are souls of humans. they can't die unless someone prays for them. They are straight up incapable of dying, and have been around since humans ditched their bodies to become immortal moonies. They realize now after some like 2 billion years or some shit that it kinda fucking sucks and they'd like to die now.
There are no full-blown humans left.
Phos, over the course of the series, combines in her body all the pieces of the 'split humans'
