Naruto fans “celebrated” that it was the best selling manga in France in 2021. While it is a achievement for a manga that ended 6 years ago to still sell so well. It just puts into perspective how much Kishimoto wasted the IP after finishing it. It could easily have a great revival if it took a break from content releases than came back with a brotherhood style remake. Perhaps even top it’s popularity when it was releasing because the coming era is perfect for Naruto’s themes. BNHA gets tons of praise from normies and kids now for things Naruto did better. Instead they are milking it dry with garbage Boruto and ruining whatever good will the series had left with its humiliation of the classic characters.

What the fans wanted was Kishi to get the old band back together and write and draw a manga himself with Yahagi editing it. If he couldn’t do weekly anymore he should have gone monthly.

Instead he subjected us to a horrible manga without Yahagi’s restraint and a shit artist that became WSJ’s most embarrassing failure.

And not only does he subject us to a garbage sequel in Boruto, he actually ensures it has no chance of even being decent by putting a lazy shit artist Ikemoto on it, and letting Pierrot make a weekly anime for a monthly manga, so we get filler hell unlike anything else. To top it off he lets the series start terribly by having the manga be a poor quality demake of the movie and the anime be a filler prequel to it where no development of worth happens, for their first years.

So many horrible choices that anyone could have pointed out.

because it defeats the whole purpose of ninjas. you can tell kishi just wanted to make a series about wizards like he said in the first or second volume, but didn't, and so the ninja shit that made the original so appealing got pushed to the side in part 2 and is a problem in boruto. if the ayys were a must, it would have been better if they had an ability like the mujina dude where they could kill a person and completely become them. then it would be more about stealth and mind games, like real ninjas, with an occasional epic fight

So essentially Sakumo in Chinese Naruto fanfiction is often characterized as a very talented shinobi from humble roots that's in the potential Hokage candidate selection alongside with Orochimaru. He has the support of both the civilian body but also numerous clans that make up Konoha as they see him as a way to defeat nepotism for the Hokage seat- because if he can become Hokage then it's free for all for literally everybody else.
To that end Danzo cooks up a plot where Sakumo is given a top secret mission that he's not meant to pass, which usually involves assassinating a head of state by himself and three others. Hiruzen isn't happy about it but he's investing his support in Orochimaru so he allows it. Then we follow the canon events where Sakumo chooses the life of his comrades over his mission.
He comes back from the mission and although the mission was top secret, Danzo leaks it and his name is tarnished. Sakumo ends up killing himself not out of shame but because he feels betrayed by the village.
Then Orochimaru gets outted and Minato is chosen to become Hokage because even though he's not one of Hiruzen's disciples he's at least the disciple of his disciple.

Basically it's just a standard take of the Champion's People betrayed by the people in power but inserted into Nart.
