The reason is that the vast majority of guys that read manga engage in the medium as a form of wish fullfilment and or escapism and can not read something they can not self insert themselves into. This is actually how 60 - 70% of people engage with media. It takes special education and training to teach someone how to not do this. This is something Liberal Arts education teaches you to do.

Ayakashi Triangle (the series in the OP) has 350,000 copies in circulation despite only 3 volumes which will most likely drastically increase when the anime comes out. It will easy be more popular than all other yuri series.
